Cuba Focus of New Chap Harper Thriller

Chap Harper, local author of three successfully published adventure novels, has turned his attention to Cuba. In Under Cuba he focuses on island mobsters of the 1940s and 50s who hid their fortunes during the overturning of the Batista regime.

With the current lessening of restrictions on Cuban travel, Hot Springs resident Harper and his wife Susan were able to visit the island, see historic sights, meet local residents and get a feel for their culture and history. He used that as the foundation for his latest novel, in which grandchildren of two former club owners set out to uncover their families’ lost wealth. What follows is a rollicking adventure of blazing guns and sizzling romance.

The book is being released by Smoking Gun Publishing of St. Louis, who also published his previous novels, Once Upon the Congo, and Beer, Bait, and Ammo. The earlier books vary in location from the jungles of Africa to the bars of Arkansas. Harper is known for the meticulous research he puts into each of his writing projects.

Harper will sign copies of the new book Saturday, June 30, from 2-5 p.m. in the Arlington Hotel lobby. Books will be available for purchase at discounted prices..
